Ex-Ozzy Osbourne Guitarist Reflects on His “Luck” Amid Multiple Gunshot Wounds
Jake E. Lee, former guitarist for rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, is speaking out after surviving a harrowing shooting incident in Las Vegas. The 66-year-old musician, known for his work with Osbourne and for founding bands Badlands and Red Dragon Cartel, was shot multiple times while walking his dog early Tuesday morning.
Lee took to Facebook on Thursday to express his gratitude for the concern and well-wishes he’s received, offering a glimpse into his experience. “I was shot three times… I’m tired, but I feel relatively very lucky,” he shared, revealing that the assailant fired 15 rounds, emptying a clip during the attack. Lee dodged several bullets, but suffered gunshot wounds to his forearm, foot, and back. The latter injury broke a rib and damaged his lung, which remains the main focus of his recovery.
Las Vegas police, who found Lee on the scene after the shooting, believe the incident to be entirely random. In their statement, they confirmed, “No arrests have been made at this time,” and the investigation is ongoing.
Lee’s management also commented on the randomness of the event, describing it as senseless and violent. Lee, now recovering in a hospital, is prioritizing draining fluid from his damaged lung, adding that once this is addressed, he can shift his focus to the “more minor injuries.”
Ozzy Osbourne, who hasn’t seen Lee in 37 years, expressed his shock over the incident, calling it “another senseless act of gun violence.” Osbourne also extended his thoughts to Lee and his daughter, Jade, in a statement to TMZ.
Despite the trauma, Lee’s message to fans remains one of gratitude, resilience, and hope for recovery. His supporters, who know him as a veteran of the heavy metal scene, are sending their wishes for his health and safety as he recovers from this shocking and brutal attack.
