Actor Recovering After Physical Altercation at Celebrity Hotspot Mr. Chow, Following Recent Health Recover
Jamie Foxx’s 57th birthday dinner took an unexpected and unfortunate turn on Friday the 13th at the Beverly Hills hotspot, Mr. Chow. According to representatives for the actor, Foxx was struck in the face by a glass during a physical altercation with another guest. The incident required Foxx to receive stitches, but he is currently recovering.
A rep for the actor confirmed the details to USA TODAY on Saturday, explaining that Foxx was enjoying his birthday celebration when someone from a nearby table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth. While the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) responded to the scene, they clarified that the incident, which was initially reported as a possible assault with a deadly weapon, did not escalate to criminal charges. The altercation was described as a physical confrontation between parties, and no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing.
The incident is just the latest in a busy period for the multi-talented actor. Earlier in the week, Foxx premiered his new Netflix comedy special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…, where he openly discussed his recovery from a mysterious illness that led to a hospitalization in April. In his special, Foxx made light of his health journey, joking, “If I can stay funny, I can stay alive,” as he expressed gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support.
Foxx’s recovery was a major theme of his recent performance, where he emotionally shared the challenges of fighting for his life and the immense relief of being able to perform once again. The special marks his first major solo release of 2024, following his involvement in the documentary Luther: Never Too Much and the comedy Not Another Church Movie.
Despite the setback at his birthday dinner, Foxx’s spirit remains unbroken, as he continues to balance his health, career, and personal milestones with his signature humor and resilience.
