Los Angeles DA Reviews Additional Leads Amid Ongoing Allegations of Sexual Abuse Against the Rock Star
New developments have emerged in the investigation surrounding controversial rock star Marilyn Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, as the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office confirms it is examining fresh evidence linked to numerous allegations of sexual abuse against him. District Attorney George Gascón stated that prosecutors from his office’s sex crimes division are “carefully reviewing new leads and additional evidence” received from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) as part of the ongoing investigation.
Gascón highlighted that “new evidence has emerged within the last few weeks,” contributing to an already extensive case file. The district attorney emphasized the importance of obtaining a complete understanding of the admissible evidence before making any decisions regarding potential charges. “It is our office’s responsibility to ensure that we have a complete picture of the admissible evidence available before making a filing decision,” he said.
As part of the investigative process, senior staff members have met with alleged victims, and ongoing communication continues between prosecutors and victims’ representatives. Manson’s attorney has not yet commented on the new developments.
Marilyn Manson has faced multiple allegations of abuse in recent years, which he has consistently denied. In February 2021, the LASD confirmed it was investigating domestic violence allegations involving Manson, with incidents reportedly occurring between 2009 and 2011 while he resided in West Hollywood. Manson’s home was searched by authorities in November 2021.
By September 2022, the LASD completed its 19-month investigation and submitted its findings to Gascón’s office, which has since indicated that a filing decision is anticipated “soon.”
Manson has been sued by several accusers, including actress Esmé Bianco from Game of Thrones, who alleged sexual assault. Manson and Bianco reached a settlement in 2023. A separate lawsuit filed by Manson’s former personal assistant, Ashley Walters, alleging sexual assault is set to go to trial in 2025. Notably, one accuser, Ashley Morgan Smithline, recanted her allegations last year.
One of the most publicized allegations comes from Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood, who accused Manson of grooming and abusing her over several years. Wood has discussed her experiences in a 2022 HBO documentary, Phoenix Rising. Manson subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit against her, though parts of the lawsuit were dismissed last year.
As the investigation continues, the focus remains on the new evidence and its potential implications for the future of the case against Manson.
