The Eras Tour delivers an unforgettable moment as Swift and Abrams share the stage for a special acoustic rendition of their hit song.
Toronto, ON – In an electric moment during her third night at the Rogers Centre, Taylor Swift surprised her fans with a heartfelt acoustic set alongside rising star Gracie Abrams. The performance of their Grammy-nominated song “Us.” marked a highlight of the evening, as Swift reminisced about the journey of writing the song together while celebrating Abrams’ recent Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
Swift, donning a vibrant orange and pink gown, introduced the moment with warmth and excitement. “This is always one of my favorite parts of the night,” she said to the roaring crowd. “I was kind of thinking about what to do tonight. The Eras Tour has been going on for like a year and a half now. A lot of life can happen in the phase of that tour. And I think you’ll remember the genius, brilliant young woman you saw tonight.”
The crowd erupted in applause as Swift shared the behind-the-scenes story of how the duo created “Us.” She explained how, after Abrams opened for Swift on the Eras Tour, they celebrated the younger artist’s Grammy nomination by indulging in cosmos and then spontaneously writing a song together. “It was just screeching, it wasn’t even words,” Swift recalled, recounting the overwhelming joy of their conversation following the nominations. “We were so excited about that, and we wanted to figure out a way to say thank you to you so we put together a little something,” Swift continued, ushering Abrams to the stage.
In a beautiful and intimate performance, Abrams started off by singing the first verse and chorus of the track, with Swift joining in harmony as they belted out the crowd favorite. The pair then transitioned seamlessly into Swift’s own song “Out of the Woods” from 1989 (Taylor’s Version), further showcasing their undeniable chemistry. Dressed in a stunning white gown, Abrams hugged Swift tightly before bowing and exiting the stage, leaving fans elated by the surprise moment.
The two had debuted “Us.” during a previous Eras Tour performance on June 23, just after the release of Abrams’ album The Secret of Us. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited the opportunity to hear the song performed live by both artists.
Before this enchanting duet, Swift had already offered her fans a special treat with a mashup of “You’re On Your Own, Kid” from Midnights and “Long Story Short” from Evermore on piano. The Toronto concerts are part of Swift’s ongoing Eras Tour, with the final curtain falling on December 8 in Vancouver.
As Swift and Abrams continue to make magic on stage, fans are reminded of the power of collaboration, creativity, and the unwavering support they share for one another’s artistry.
